Men's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision to Saint Elizabeth

READING, Pa. – The Penn State Berks Men's Soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback to Saint Elizabeth in United East Conference action on Tuesday night at the Hintz Athletic Fields.
 
 
With the win, the Nittany Lions fell to to 3-8-1 overall 0-2-1 in United East Conference. Meanwhile, the Eagles improved to 7-4-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
 
 
The Eagles held possession in the early minutes and nearly got on the board in the eighth minute when a shot was sent off the crossbar. Berks had its best chance in the first half when senior Caleb Fatkin had a shot saved in front of the net in the 11th minute following an Eagles turnover. However, Saint Elizabeth broke the scoring in the 18th minute after converting off a corner kick. The Eagles had multiple scoring chances later in the first half, but senior goalkeeper Ethan Brazier kept the deficit at one with a pair of saves.
 
 
Saint Elizabeth extended its lead to 2-0 just three minutes into the second half with a lengthy shot from the top of the box. Berks nearly cut the lead down to one on two separate occasions, the first coming in the 72nd minute when junior Nathan Fatkin had a shot saved from a rush. Caleb Fatkin got a look in the 82nd minute when he beat the Eagles goalkeeper inside the box, but his shot glanced off the right post and out. Less than a minute later, the Eagles extended their lead to 3-0.
 
 
The Eagles held a 19-5 shot advantage for the game behind holding a 14-2 edge in the first half. Saint Elizabeth also held a 6-2 advantage in shots on goals and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks. Brazier made three saves in 90 minutes while Andrew Gonzalez tallied two in the full time for the Eagles.
 
 
The Nittany Lions return to action on Saturday, October 12th as they will host Penn State Abington in United East Conference action at 3:30 p.m.
