Men's Soccer Falls On Senior Day

READING, PA- The Penn St. Berks Men's Soccer Team could not overcome a slow start, falling to Penn St. Abington by a score of 4-2 on Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Before the game started, the Penn St. Berks Athletic Department took a few moments to honor the two senior members of the team, Ethan Brazier and Caleb Fatkin. The Lions (3-10-1 Overall, 0-3-1 UEC) were on the defensive from the start of the game with Abington (5-6-2 Overall, 5-0 UEC) firing nine first half shots. The Blue & White was up for the challenge for much of the first half, turning away several quality scoring chances. Abington finally broke through, scoring in the 43rd minute to hold a 1-0 lead at the break.

Abington took control of the match early in the second half, scoring three times in a four-minute stretch to take a 4-0 lead. Berks halted Abington's momentum, striking back in the 58th minute. Off a free kick, Caleb Fatkin dribbled the ball into the box, setting up Nathan Fatkin to a dangerous position and he blasted a shot in the back of the net for the goal. Berks scored again in the 72nd minute. Nicolas Harrison placed a corner kick perfectly into the center of the box and Keegan Redcay headed the ball into the back of the net, scoring his first collegiate goal in the process. Berks could not pull any closer, falling by a score of 4-2.
