Men’s Soccer Races Past Gwynedd Mercy, 4-2

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Penn State Berks men's soccer team scored the first four goals against Gwynedd Mercy on Friday night and won, 4-2. The Nittany Lions led, 3-0, at the half.

Nicholas Harrison got things started for Berks with an 18th minute goal, and the Nittany Lions added two more in quick succession. Jhon Diuza scored in the 26th minute, and Aidan Chendak scored off an assist by Kyle Humphreys in the 29th minute to quickly expand the lead to 3-0.

Berks scored on three of its eight first-half shots. For the match, Gwynedd Mercy outshot Berks, 25-19.

After halftime, Nathan Fatkin scored in the 57th minute to push Berks' lead to 4-0. Luke O'Donnell scored just 14 seconds later for Gwynedd Mercy to make it 4-1, and he added a second goal in the 82nd minute. The Berks' lead was just too large for any bigger threat.

Ethan Brazier made three saves in his half of action. Josh Martin added another save, and Patrick Martin made four more as they split the second half.

Berks now moves permanently back into United East action with a home match next against Saint Elizabeth on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
