LA PLUME, Pa. – The Penn State Berks women's soccer team scored seven goals in each half as it defeated Keystone, 14-0, in United East action on Wednesday afternoon.
Three different Nittany Lions recorded hat tricks. Isabelle Wilkes, Ashley Jocham and Paige Thomas all scored three goals, and Autumn Levengood and Lindsey Bronczyk each scored twice. Lauren LeKites added the 14th goal.
The goals came at a fast and furious pace for a Berks team that moved to 2-0 in conference play. After Wilkes opened the scoring in the ninth minute, Thomas scored in the 21st minute to make it 2-0. Jocham scored twice in less than two minutes before the game reached the half hour mark.
Berks scored three more times in the first half, all within two minutes. Bronczyk scored in the 35th and 37th minutes, sandwiching another Wilkes score.
In the second half, Thomas and Levengood each scored twice and LeKites capped the scoring with a 78th minute goal from Alaina Ubaldini. She had two assists.
Wilkes added three assists to go with her three goals, and Maya Dolan also had two assists.
The offensive output ranks highly in several single game categories. The 14 goals, 12 assists and 40 points all tie for third most all-time.
Wilkes' nine points move her into a tie for seventh place in the school's record book with several other players. It's the first time a Berks player has recorded nine points in a match since Alexis Schoener in 2019. Her three assists also place her in a tie for third most in a game in program history.
Berks looks to keep the good vibes rolling with another United East match on Tuesday against St. Elizabeth at home at 5 p.m.
