Women's Soccer Powers Past Valley Forge

Phoenixville, Pa.- The Penn St. Berks Women's Soccer Team rolled past Valley Forge, defeating the Patriots by a score of 12-0 on Saturday, Oct 19.

Berks (5-8-2 Overall, 4-1-1 UEC) started fast, firing four shots and earning two corner kicks in the first nine minutes of the game. Berks broke through in the 10th minute when Ashley Jocham played a ball into the box on a great cross finding the head Adriana Lepera. Lepera beat the goalkeeper to the near post scoring her first goal of the season. The Lions struck again in the 18th minute; Mackenzie Bennett played a ball to Paige Thomas just outside the 18-yard box. Thomas juked a defender and lifted a shot over the goalkeeper for her first goal of the day. The Lions added one more first half goal in the 31st minute when Lepera worked a give-and-go with Jocham, resulting in a goal for Jocham.

The Blue & White were on the attack right from the opening kick of the second half, scoring in the 48th minute. Autumn Levengood lifted a corner kick into the box and Zoe Macknicki redirected a shot into the back of the net scoring her first goal of the season in the process. Keeping their foot firmly on the gas petal, the Blue & White added another goal a minute later when Levengood launched a shot from outside the box into the far corner of the goal. Lauren LeKites made the score 6-0 heading in a corner kick from Thomas. After an own goal made the score 7-0 in the 57th minute, Thomas struck for a second time, beating two defenders with a nifty cutback move and blasting a shot into the back of the net.

Lindsey Bronczyk got into the scoring act in the 66th minute, gathering a loose ball in the box and blasting a shot off the goalkeeper and into the back of the net to make the score 9-0. Alaina Ubaldini, Faith Wavershak and Levengood all scored goals in the final 12 minutes to give Berks the 12-0 victory. With the win, Penn St. Berks has clinched a berth in the United East Championship Tournament.
