Phoenixville, Pa.- The Penn St. Berks Men's Soccer Team picked up its first United East win this fall, defeating Valley Forge by a score of 3-0 on Saturday, Oct 19.
Berks (3-11-1 Overall, 1-4-1 UEC) took an early lead, scoring in the 13
th minute.
Alex Snyder launched a throw-in into the box, and
Gavin Dai headed a shot into the far-side of the net of a goal. The Lions controlled the flow of play throughout the rest of the first half, creating several quality scoring chances, but they could not extend their advantage, holding a 1-0 lead at the break.
The Blue & White continued to frustrate the Patriots (2-14 Overall, 0-6 UEC) offensive attack throughout the first 20 minutes of the second half, holding them without a shot. Berks extended their advantage in the 64
th minute. After a series of corner kicks,
Nicolas Harrison found an open Dai in the box for his second goal of the game. The Lions continued to pepper the Patriots goalkeeper with shots, holding an 11-4 edge in shots. The Blue & White put the game away in the 81
st minute.
Caleb Fatkin blasted a shot on goal that bounced away from the Patriots goalkeeper.
Nathan Fatkin gathered the loose ball and knocked it into the back of the net to make the score 3-0.

The Lions will return home for a critical United East match-up and their final home regular season game against Penn St. Brandywine on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The kickoff is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM.
