Reading, Pa.- The Penn St. Berks Women's Soccer Team fell to local rival Penn St. Harrisburg by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday, Oct 16.
Harrisburg (7-4-3 Overall, 5-0 UEC) struck first, scoring in the 16
th minute to take an early lead. Berks (4-8-2 Overall, 3-1-1 UEC) looked to level the score in the 30
th minute.
Isabelle Wilkes broke through the Lions defense and dribbled past their goalkeeper, scoring a goal. The Blue & White slowed Harrisburg's offense attack, keeping the score leveled at one going into the half. Starting goalkeeper
Sophia Gonzalez made eight saves for the Lions including four in the first half.Â
Berks could not sustain pressure on Harrisburg in the second half, eventually conceding a pair of goals in the 70
th and 76
th minutes to trail 3-1. The Lions could not create any scoring chances down the stretch, falling for the first time in conference play this fall.
WHO'S NEXT
The Lions will look to rebound when they travel to face the University of Valley Forge on Saturday, Oct. 19. The kickoff is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
