MBB narrowly edged by LBC

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team played hard until the final whistle, but were narrowly edged by Lancaster Bible College by a score of 99-92 in United East action on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions trailed 45-37 heading into the halftime intermission. The Chargers extended their lead to 12 points (57-45) with 15:23 remaining in regulation, but Berks battled back to get within three points (68-65) with 9:54 to play. LBC built back up a comfortable lead of 87-74 with just under five minutes to go, but again the Nittany Lions chipped away and a layup by Kai Davis made it a four point game (94-90) with 33 seconds left. The Chargers went 5-for-6 at the line the rest of the way to secure the victory.

Andre Ballard drilled five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 28 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Marquis Ferreira chipped in 20 points and three assists, while Jaedon Mast added 19 points and eight boards. Josh Mingledolph had 11 points, five rebounds and three assists, Matthew Gingerich pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Grant Sareyka led the Chargers with 30 points, followed by Connor Storr with 18 and Luke Rumbaugh with 12. Seth Beers added 11 points and five boards, Ty Erisman finished with 10 points.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Gallaudet University for an United East contest on Saturday, January 16 at 5 p.m.
