WVB swept at Stevenson tri-match

STEVENSON, MD - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to host Stevenson University and later 3-1 to Penn State Altoona in a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions fell by scores of 25-17, 25-10, 25-15 against the Mustangs in the opener.

Jordan Thompson had seven kills, while Katelyn Williams chipped in six. Diana Stoltzfus and Gab Murphy each recorded five kills. Riley Kovach had a team-high 16 digs, Libby Swoyer had 12 digs and 22 assists.

In the second game, Altoona won the first set 25-23, but Berks responded with a 25-22 triumph in the second game. Altoona claimed the match with wins of 25-18 and 25-16 in the final two sets.

Katelyn Williams had 16 kills, 17 digs, and two service aces, while Jordan Thompson added 11 kills, two solo blocks, and two aces. Stoltzfus and Murphy again added five kills. Stoltzfus recorded a team-high 23 digs, Kovach had 21 and Makenzie Shoop recorded 14. Swoyer finished the match with 38 assists, seven digs, and pair of aces.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn College for an United East contest on Wednesday, October 4 at 7 p.m.
