WVB sweeps Penn College in United East opener

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team opened up United East play with a 3-0 victory on the road over Penn College on Wednesday night.

The Nittany Lions improve to 3-8 on the season and 1-0 in the United East, while the Wildcats drop to 4-9 this fall and 0-1 in the conference. Berks won by game scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-11 for their first road win this season.

Makenzie Shoop finished with a contest-best nine kills to go along with four digs and three aces. Aubrey Hunt added six kills, followed by Diana Stoltzfus with five and Jordan Thompson with four. Riley Kovach recorded nine digs, while Stoltzfus had eight. Stoltzfus had a game-high four aces, Shoop and Hunt each had three and Kovach recorded two. Libby Swoyer finished with 12 assists, Kovach dished out seven.

The Nittany Lions will host St. Mary's College in United East action on Saturday, October 7 at 1 p.m.
