Men’s soccer downs Gallaudet, 7-1

READING, PA – The Penn State Berks men's soccer team defeated Gallaudet University, 7-1, in United East action on Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions improve to 1-5-2 on the season and 1-1 in the United East, while Gallaudet drops to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Berks jumped out to a quick lead with a goal at the 2:08 mark of the opening period and added three more for a 4-0 advantage by the 6th minute. The Nittany Lions added one more in the 43rd minute to take a 5-0 lead into the break.

The Bison scored a goal off of a loose ball in the 50th minute to cut their deficit to 5-1. But Berks responded with a score in the 69th minute and another in the 71st to earn the win.

Patrick Cwalinski netted a hat trick after tallying three of the Nittany Lions first four goals. Thomas Andress finished with two goals, while Jaden Duron added one score. Caleb Fatkin added a goal and assist, Owen Love and Johan Colorado both dished out two assists.

Ethan Brazier made a save on the only action he saw to earn the win, while Vershon Carter had nine stops for the Bison.

Berks outshot the Bison by 23-3 margin (16-2 on goal) and held a 5-4 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Delaware Valley University for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, October 4 at 6 p.m.
