WVB drops road tilt to Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped a hard fought battle, 3-1, to Gwynedd Mercy University in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

The Nittany Lions drop to 2-6 overall, while Gwynedd Mercy now sits at 4-6 on the season. The Griffins claimed tight wins in the first two games by scores of 28-26 and 26-24. Berks kept the match going with a 26-24 triumph in the third set, but GMU was able to put the match away with a 25-18 victory in the fourth game.

Jordan Thompson had a team-high 13 kills, followed by Diana Stoltzfus with 12. Makenzie Shoop and Katelyn Williams both chipped in 11 kills, while Aubrey Hunt added eight. Stoltzfus led the Nittany Lions with 19 digs, followed by Hunt (19), Riley Kovach (14), and Williams (13) also in double figures. Libby Swoyer finished with 43 assists.

The Nittany Lions will compete in a tri-match at Stevenson University on Saturday, September 30. They face host Stevenson at 1 p.m., followed by Penn State Altoona at 3 p.m.
