Women's soccer topped on the road by Arcadia

GLENSIDE, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road to Arcadia University in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions fall to 2-5-1 overall, while Arcadia improves to 5-5 on the season.

The teams played a scoreless opening half of soccer, with the Knights outshooting Berks by a 7-5 margin and holding a 4-0 advantage on corner kicks.

The teams exchanged shots early in the second half, but neither was able to put the ball on frame. At the 53:52 mark of the contest, Angela Rosenberger converted a penalty kick to give AU a 1-0 lead. The home squad tacked on a pair of goals in the 57th minute to build a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Ashley Olivares netted her first goal of the season with an assist by Devon Deery at the 89:14 mark to end the shutout bid for the Knights.

Sophia Gonzalez finished with five saves in net for the Nittany Lions, while Abigail Fuchs had three stops for Arcadia.

The Nittany Lions open up a four-game home stand beginning with an United East contest against Gallaudet University on Saturday, September 30 at 3:30 p.m.
