WVB sweeps Marywood in home opener

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 triumph over Marywood University in non-conference action in the home opener at the Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center on Thursday night.

The Nittany Lions (1-2) won by game scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-22 to give Micaela Sensenig her first win as the head coach of the women's volleyball program.

Katelyn Williams finished with a game-high in kills (14) and digs (14). The freshman outside hitter also recorded two blocked assists and two service aces, while finishing with a .367 hitting percentage. Diana Stolzfus added eight kills, followed by Jordan Thompson with seven and Aubrey Hunt with six. Libby Swoyer had 35 assists, nine digs, and a team-high four service aces. Stoltzfus notched 11 digs and Riley Kovach recorded eight. Makenzie Shoop and Thompson each had a solo block and a block assist.

As a team, Berks collected 38 kills, 50 digs, nine aces, and six total blocks.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Elizabethtown College for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, September 19 at 7 p.m.
