Men's soccer edged by Notre Dame (Md.), 2-0

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback to Notre Dame of Maryland University in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

The Gators improve to 2-1 on the season, while Berks drops to 0-3-1 overall.

Both teams exchanged scoring chances over the course of the first 16 minutes of play, but neither team was able to break through on the scoreboard. At the 19:43 mark of the opening half, the visitors tallied the first score of the contest on an unassisted goal by Tassilo Lehmkuhl. They tacked onto their lead with a score by Myles Tankersley from Hector Alvarez in the 24th minute.

Berks closed out the period with a couple of shots, but again could not find the back of the net. The Nittany Lions kept that momentum going to start the second half with three shots over the first ten minutes of play, but were just off target on each of the attempts.

The Nittany Lions continued applying pressure throughout the half. In the final minutes of play, Berks got two corner kicks and Johan Colorado laced a line drive on net that the keeper was able snag out of the air.

For the game, Berks outshot NDMU 12-8 in shots (4-3 in favor of the Gators in shots on goal) and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will host DeSales University in a non-conference contest on Saturday, September 16 at 1 p.m.
