Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late goal leads to tie with Pitt-Greensburg

READING, PA - Matias Lozada scored with 10 seconds remaining in the contest to help the Penn State Berks men's soccer team play to a 1-1 draw with the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions are now 0-2-1 overall, while the Bobcats move to 0-3-1 on the year.

Both teams had a couple of scoring chances come up empty early in the opening half, with the Bobcats hitting the crossbar in the 26th minute and Zach Attah had his shot stopped in the 27th minute. Ethan Brazier made an acrobatic save in the 30th minute to keep the score locked at 0-0. But Pitt-Greensburg was able to find the back of the net at the 31:05 mark when Kaleb Raymond slotted a shot inside the left post.

The Bobcats nearly added to their lead in the 37th minute, but Caleb Fatkin made a defense save at the end goal line. Pitt-Greensburg had five corner kicks in the final 10 minutes of the first half, but the Berks defense did not allow that to translate to any more goals.

The opening ten minutes of the second half saw three shots and two corner kicks for the Bobcats, but Brazier and the Nittany Lions stood strong.

With time winding down in the final minute of play, Berks was able to earn a corner kick. Johan Colorado sent a nice ball into the box which bounce around off several players from both teams. Lozada, who just entered the game a few minutes prior, poked the ball into the open right side to knot the game at 1-all. Lozada was mobbed by his teammates on the field, as the Berks bench and fans went wild over the late game heroics.

The Bobcats outshot Berks by a 12-3 margin (5-2 on goal) and held a 10-2 advantage on corner kicks. Brazier finished with three saves in goal for Berks, while Nick Braun had one stop for the Bobcats.

The Nittany Lions will host Notre Dame of Maryland University on Tuesday, September 12 at 6 p.m.
