Men's golf places fourth at Penn State Challenge

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The Penn State Berks men's golf team finished in fourth out of six teams at the two-day Penn State DIII Challenge on Sunday afternoon. After a rain shortened day on Saturday, the teams played a full round of 18 on Sunday on the par-72, 7219-yard Penn State Blue Course. (Results)

Berks finished with team score of 319 on on day two, finished with a 27-hole total of 482 strokes, which was in close range of Penn State Abington (477 strokes) and Penn College (478 strokes) in second and third, respectively. Penn State Altoona were the team champions after finishing with a total 453 strokes for the weekend.

Drew Morris finished tied for eighth out of 35 golfers after shooting a 78 (+6) on Sunday and finishing with 117 strokes, while Josh Gardner followed with 118 total strokes (39-78) to follow in 11th place. Kolin Grogesky (tied for 20th) and Derek Jopp (tied for 22nd) finished a stroke apart at 123 and 124 strokes, respectively. Reese Renninger rounded out the Berks golfers, recording 130 strokes (45-85) to finish tied for 30th.

The Nittany Lions return to action next week with a two-day Alvernia University Spring Invitational at Stonewall Golf Course. The invite starts on Monday, April 10 at 12 p.m., followed by a noon start time on Tuesday, April 11.
