Baseball falls to Brandywine on the road

ASTON, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball team dropped a pair of games on the road to Penn State Brandywine in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday evening at the Maple Zone. Brandywine won 12-6 in the opener and followed it up with a 7-5 victory in game two.

In the opener, Berks held a 5-1 lead after two innings, but the home squad scored 11 runs over the third and fourth inning to hold a 12-5 lead. Berks scored once in the top of the seventh to bring in the final score.

Colin Templin was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Nick Bergeman and Jase Graybill were both 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Jonathan Myers scored a pair of runs, David Rudisill had a hit and an RBI.

Josh Miiller struck out two batters in 2.0 innings of work and Sam Perrone had two strikeouts in 3.0 innings of relief.

In game two, Brandywine scored twice in the top of the first before Berks evened it up with two runs in the fourth. The hosts scored twice in their half of the fourth and the teams exchanged three runs over the next two innings.

Griffin Kay was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Rudisill and Joey McGann had a hit and a run scored. Riley Weaver had a hit and an RBI, Wade Kaminski had an RBI and scored a run.

Mike Kelemen had four strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

The Nittany Lions will host Albright College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m.
