Baseball drops back-and-forth battle with Albright

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball team suffered a 16-12 setback to Albright College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at Kelchner Field.

Berks got on the board first with one run in the top of the third inning, but Albright responded with six runs in the bottom of the third. Berks scored nine unanswered runs over the next three innings to lead 10-6 going into the bottom of the sixth. The home squad tallied eight runs to go back out in front, 14-10. The Nittany Lions scored twice in the seventh, but Albright scored two of their own in the bottom half to go back up by four runs.

Chad Evans finished 5-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI, and three runs scored. The five hits were a career-high, while the two homers were his third multi-homer game of the season for the senior second baseman. Jonathan Myers also enjoyed a career-day, going 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored. Colin Templin was 3-for-6 with a homer, two RBI, and two runs scored, while Kolbie Reeser was 1-for-6 with a run scored. Joey McGann had an RBI and a run scored, while Nick Bergeman, Colin Amerine, and Jase Graybill all scored once.

Tommy Peifley allowed one hit and one run, while striking out one in 1.2 innings of relief. Aloysius Battista allowed only one hit in 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Nittany Lions will host Wilson College in a non-conference contest on Thursday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m.
