Men's golf wins Ursinus Invitational

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's golf team finished first out of six teams at the Ursinus College Spring Invitational on Thursday afternoon at the par-70, 5548-yard Manor Golf Club. (Results)

The Nittany Lions recorded a team score of 310 strokes to narrowly edge Yeshiva College (312 strokes) for first place. Rosemont College (321), Ursinus College "Red" (322), and Neumann University (323) finished third through fifth. Ursinus College "Gold" rounded out the field in sixth place with 386 strokes.

Drew Morris finished in second place out of 32 golfers after carding a score of 74 (+4). Derek Jopp had a score of 76 strokes to place tied for fourth, while Josh Gardner had a 79 to place 11th. Kolin Grogesky (81) and Reese Renninger (87) placed 13th and 20th, respectively. Rob Pasquarella (91) and John Harrison (105), who competed independently, placed 25th and 31st.

The 310 strokes by Berks was the best team total since a 295 at the Arcadia University Invitational on October 28. That invite also marks the last time the Nittany Lions were team champions at an event.

The Nittany Lions will compete in the two-day Penn State DIII Challenge this weekend at University Park, hosted by Penn State Altoona. The teams will compete at the Penn State Blue Course on Saturday, April 1 at 12 p.m. and the Penn State White Course on Sunday, April 2 at 10 a.m.
