Baseball swept by Penn State Harrisburg

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball team fell by scores of 10-2 and 14-3 in an United East doubleheader against Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon at Hintz Athletic Field.

In the opener, Harrisburg scored once in the top of the first and three more times in the third to build a 4-0 lead. In the bottom half of the third, Nick Bergeman tripled to straightaway center field to bring in Jase Graybill, who doubled down the left field line to begin the inning. Kolbie Reeser brought Bergeman in with a ground to shortstop that was thrown away at first base to make it a 4-2 ballgame. The visitors added four runs in the fifth and tacked on two more in the seventh to secure the win.

Bergeman finished 1-for-4 with a triple, run, and RBI, while Graybill was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored. Reeser added a hit and an RBI, while David Rudisill recorded one hit.

Sam Perrone recorded one strikeout in 2.2 innings of relief.

In game two, Rudisill smashed a three-run home run to right field in the eighth to bring in Logan Ewert and Bryce Kelly to score. Rudisill finished the game 1-for-2 with a three RBI and a run scored, while Joey McGann was 2-for-4. Colin Templin, who doubled off the fence in left field, was 1-for-3.

Tommy Peifley recorded three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Wells College for an United East series starting on Friday, March 31 at  4p.m.
