Baseball falls to Harrisburg in series opener

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball dropped the opening contest of its three-game series with Penn State Harrisburg by a score of 8-1 in United East action on Friday afternoon.

Harrisburg scored three runs in the top of the first and added a single run in the second and third. They tacked on two more in the fifth and another one in the seventh for an 8-0 lead. Berks got one run back in the bottom of the seventh when David Rudisill led off with a single and came around to score on a sacrifice fly to center field by Jonathan Myers.

Rudisill finished the game 1-for-4 with a run scored, while Myers was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base. Colin Templin, Chad Evans, and Jase Graybill also recorded a hit in the game.

Aloysius Battista recorded a pair of strikeouts in 2.0 innings of relief, while Blake Trumbore had one strikeout in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief. Jake Dianna finished with one scoreless inning of relief.

With rain projected for Saturday, the two teams will play the final games of the doubleheader on Sunday, March 26 at 12 p.m.
