WBB falls to Abington in United East opener

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team dropped its United East opener to Penn State Abington, 94-45, on Tuesday night.

Berks trailed just 20-15 after the first quarter, but Abington was able to extend its lead to 46-25 heading into the halftime break. In the second half, Abington outscored Berks by a 48-20 margin to earn the win.

Hailey Miller knocked down three 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 17 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. Ashlyn Clark chipped in 11 points, three assists, and two steals, while Mahala Ruffner had eight points and a team-best 11 boards. Keyla Rivera finished with six points, while Liberty Stitzman recorded two points and eight rebounds.

Abington was led by Sereniti Minor with 21 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals, while Angela Sanders added 16 points and 12 boards. Layla Reid chipped in 13 points from the bench.

The Nittany Lions will host Eastern University in non-conference action on Wednesday, November 29 at 6 p.m.
