WBB falls to Cairn in home tilt

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team had its rally come up short in a 60-49 setback to Cairn University in non-conference action on Monday night.

The Nittany Lions led 14-13 after the first quarter of action, but Cairn dominated the second period to take 29-19 lead into the halftime intermission. The Highlanders extended their lead to 18 points (51-33) after three quarters, but Berks was able to trim the deficit to single digits late in the game. Liberty Stitzman knocked town a pair of free throws with 1:42 remaining to make it an eight point Highlander lead and Berks got a stop on defense, but could not turn it into points as Cairn was able to hold on down the stretch.

Ruffner led the Nittany Lions with 13 points and 14 rebounds to go along with three assists, one steal, and one blocked shot, while Kline followed with 11 points, 10 boards, three assists, and a steal.
