MBB takes down Keystone on the road

LA PLUME, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team used a strong second half rally to pick up a 90-83 victory over Keystone College on the road in non-conference action on Monday night.

The Nittany Lions trailed throughout the bulk of the opening half and were down by 12 points (44-32) at halftime. Out of the break, Berks went on a 9-0 run powered by Marquis Ferreira and Andre Ballard to pull within 44-41 with 17:38 left in regulation. The Giants eventually pushed their lead back up to 10 points (60-50) with 11:14 to play, but a 12-0 run fueled by Darik Tannis-Harriet over the next two minutes gave Berks a 62-60 lead with 8:38 left. The lead exchanged sides over the next several minutes before reaching a 79-79 deadlock with 1:22 left in the game. Ballard had back-to-back layups to put Berks ahead by four, followed by Ferreira, Ballard, and Luke Collins combining to go 7-for-8 down the stretch to secure the win.

Ballard and Tannis-Harriet tied for the team-lead with 19 points each, while Ferreira had 15 points and Collins added 14. Josh Ruiz and Matthew Gingerich each had seven points and Josh Mingledolph finished with six. Tannis-Harriet also recorded seven rebounds and seven assists, while Gingerich grabbed seven boards and Collins had four. Ruiz registered three steals on defense, Ballard and Gingerich both had two.

Jack Anderson led the Giants with 24 points, while D'Andre Sutherland finished with 15 points, 10 boards, and five assists.

As a team, Berks shot 47.7% from the floor (31-of-65) and matched a season-best with 11 3-pointers made. At the charity stripe, the Nittany Lions went 17-for-24 for a 70.8%.

Berks will host Penn State Abington in both teams United East opener on Tuesday, November 28 at 5 p.m.
