Nittany Lions fall short at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team came up short on the road in a non-conference setback to Moravian University, 77-64, on Saturday afternoon.

The teams exchanged lead changes and ties throughout the bulk of the first half, with the Nittany Lions leading by as many as five points (19-14) with 10:39 remaining in the first period. The Greyhounds jumped ahead 29-28 with 57 seconds remaining in the half and would extend the lead to five (33-28) going into the break.

In the second half, Moravian got its lead to 10 points just over five minutes into the period, but the Nittany Lions were able to pull within three points (47-44) wither 12 minutes to play. Berks was within seven points (71-64) with 2:09 to play, but the Greyhounds were able to put the game away down the stretch.

Andre Ballard notched a double-double after finishing with a team-best 24 points and 11 rebounds, to go with three steals and three assists. Josh Mingledolph and Matthew Gingerich each chipped in 10 points, with a combined 11 boards, six assists, and three blocked shots. Marquis Ferreira added seven points.

Marquis Ratcliff led MU with 31 points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Gary Francis added 14 points. Michael Leonardo finished with 13 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots.

The Nittany Lions will host Cairn University in a non-conference contest on Thursday, November 16 at 6 p.m.
