Men's soccer edged by Gwynedd Mercy

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team suffered a 3-2 setback to Gwynedd Mercy University in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions had their two-game win streak snapped to fall to 2-6-2 overall, while the Griffins improved to 2-5-4 with the win.

GMU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a score at the 2:32 mark of the first period. The Nittany Lions responded with a goal by Patrick Cwalinski in the 16th minute, with an assist by Zach Attah. The duo were back at it again in the 40th minute when Cwalinski snuck a shot past the keeper inside the right post off a nice feed by Attah inside the box.

The Griffins evened the match in the 73rd minute and tacked on the go-ahead score in the 78th minute. The Nittany Lions were unable to find the equalizer down the stretch.

Ethan Brazier finished with three saves in net for the Nittany Lions, while Kevin Kretschman and John Wagner combined for five stops for GMU.

The teams finished with 11 shots each (7-6 on goal in Berks' favor) and the Nittany Lions held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
