Volleyball puts up big numbers in win over Moravian

BETHLEHEM, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 win over Moravian University in non-conference action on Tuesday night. The Nittany Lions had several record breaking performances as well as a number of individual career-highs.

The Nittany Lions improved to 7-16 overall, while the Greyhounds dropped to 10-15 on the season. Berks won the opening set by a 25-17 margin, but Moravian responded with wins of 25-21 and 25-22 in the second and third. The Nittany Lions wont 25-15 in the fourth to force a decisive fifth set, which they took by a 15-7 count. With the win, the Nittany Lions are now 3-1 in five-setters this season.

As a team, the Nittany Lions established the new single-game team record for kills (68) and assists (64). Individually, Libby Swoyer broke the single-game assists record with 59, while Diana Stoltzfus had the second-most service aces in a match with 12. Stoltzfus also finished with 25.0 total points, which is tied for the ninth-most in a single-game in program history.

Makenzie Shoop enjoyed a career-best performance with 19 kills and a very efficient .484 hitting percentage. Jordan Thompson matched her career-high in kills with 15, while Katelyn Williams followed with 14 and Stoltzfus with 13. Riley Kovach pulled down a game-high 25 digs, followed by Williams with 18, Stoltzfus with 17 and Swoyer with 13.

Berks will host Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday, November 1 at 7 p.m.
