Women's soccer topped by Misericordia

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 21 ranked Misericordia University in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

The Nittany Lions had a two-game win streak snapped to drop to 4-6-1 overall, while the Cougars improved to 6-3-1 on the season.

Misericordia got on the board with a score at the 11:12 mark of the opening half. The visitors tacked on another goal in the 39th minute and later took a 2-0 lead into the halftime intermission. The Cougars scored a pair of goals in the first six minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach. They finished off their scoring with a goal in the 65th minute.

Diana Pon, Carly Fox, Dannah Bittner, and Erna Hamzic all recorded a shot on goal, but the Misericordia keepers were there to make the stop.

Sophia Gonzalez finished with five saves and Maura Chawner had one, while Lauren Mondor and Emma Stroud each had two stops for the Cougars.

The Nittany Lions return to action when they host Albright College on Tuesday, October 10 at 7 p.m.
