Volleyball drops two at Gallaudet tri-match

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in the nation's capital on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions fell 3-0 to host Gallaudet University in an United East contest, then fell by a similar score to Roanoke College in non-conference action.

The Nittany Lions (6-16, 2-3 United East) dropped their match to the Bison (27-3, 6-0 United East) by game scores of 25-10, 25-17, 25-23.

In that match, Makenzie Shoop and Katelyn Williams both had eight kills, while Jordan Thompson had seven. Riley Kovach pulled down a team-best 16 digs, followed by Aubrey Hunt with 12 and Williams with eight. Libby Swoyer handed out 24 assists to go with seven digs and an ace, while Diana Stoltzfus had a team-high three aces. The team finished with 11 blocks, led by Thompson with four block assists. Hunt finished with three block assists, Shoop and Stoltzfus with two total blocks.

The Maroons (14-9) defeated Berks by scores of 25-12, 25-10, 25-17.

Thompson recorded a team-best seven kills, followed by Williams with six and Stoltzfus with five. Williams had a team-best 10 digs, while Kovach added six. Kovach and Swoyer both registered 10 assists.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Moravian University for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, October 31 at 7 p.m.
