Volleyball drops two at Hood tri-match

FREDERICK, MD - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped both games of a tri-match in Maryland on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions fell by a score of 3-1 to host Hood College and later dropped a 3-0 decision to Bridgewater College.

Against the Blazers, Hood took the first set 25-15, but the Nittany Lions evened the match with a 25-22 win in the second set. Hood then took the third (26-24) and fourth (25-17) sets.

Katelyn Williams recorded 12 kills, nine digs, and two service aces, while Aubrey Hunt added eight kills and Jordan Thompson had seven. Diana Stoltzfus registered a career-best seven aces to go along with 13 digs and five kills. Riley Kovach matched Stoltzfus with the team-lead in digs with 13, while Williams and Libby Swoyer had nine digs. Swoyer finished the contest with 27 assists.

In the second match of the day, Bridgewater earned the win with set scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-10.

Thompson had six kills, followed by Makenzie Shoop followed with five kills. Shoop finished with a career-best five aces and Stoltzfus added two. Williams recorded a team-high 11 digs, Kovach chipped in 10.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Abington for an United East contest on Wednesday, October 25 at 7 p.m.
