Women's soccer blanks Abington, 4-0

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team picked up another shutout victory as they topped Penn State Abington,4-0, in United East action on Wednesday evening.

Berks improved to 7-7-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in the United East, while Abington fell to 2-13 on the year and 1-4 in the conference.

Diana Pon netted a hat trick to raise her team lead in goals to nine, while Adriana Lepera notched her third goal of the season. Carly Fox recorded a pair of assists, Lepera and Sara Hathaway both added one assist.

Lepera tallied the first goal of the game off a feed by Fox at the 17:27 mark of the opening period. Pon then found the back of the net with an unassisted score in the 19th minute. In the second half, Pon scored in the 52nd minute off a nice set of passes from Lepera to Fox. Hathaway then provided the assist with a nice feed to Pon outside the box in the 65th minute.

Hannah LaBadie earned the win in net, combining with Maura Chawner on the shutout. Rachel Wilfrid and Abby Brunnell combined to record 11 saves for Abington. 

Berks outshot Abington by a 29-3 margin (15-1 on goal) and held a 10-0 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will travel to St. Mary's College for an United East contest on Saturday, October 21 at 3:30 p.m.
