WVB drops two in home tri-match

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped a pair of games in a home tri-match on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions fell 3-1 to Lancaster Bible College in an United East contest, then later fell 3-0 to Montclair State University in a non-conference tilt.

In the opener, the Chargers won the first set 25-13, but Berks rebounded with a 27-25 thriller in the second set. LBC took the third game by a 25-20 score and claimed the win with a 25-21 triumph in the fourth.

Jordan Thompson finished with 13 kills, two solo blocks, and two block assists to lead the Nittany Lions. Katelyn Williams chipped in eight kills, followed by Aubrey Hunt with seven and Makenzie Shoop with six. Libby Swoyer had 30 assists and 15 digs, while Diana Stoltzfus added 12 digs. Riley Kovach, Hunt, and Williams all finished with nine digs. Kovach finished the contest with a pair of service aces.

Against Montclair State, Berks turned in a strong effort but came up on the wrong end of a 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 score.

Thompson was again the top performer for Berks. The junior middle blocker finished with 12 kills, three solo blocks, one block assist, and one ace. Williams and Shoop each added seven kills. Kovach had a team-high 14 digs, followed by Stoltzfus with 12 and Swoyer with 10. Swoyer finished the contest with 29 assists, while adding an ace and a block assist.

The Nittany Lions will host their annual Pink Game fundraiser on Monday, October 16 against Albright College.
