Women's basketball edged by Abington

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball had its rally come up short in a 65-59 setback to Penn State Abington in United East action on Friday evening.

Abington led 25-19 after the first period and took a 41-29 lead into the halftime intermission. In the third quarter, Berks was able to trim the deficit to 51-44 heading into the final 10 minutes of action. Berks pulled to within six points on several occasions, but that is as close as they would get down the stretch.

Hailey Miller notched another double-double after finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with three steals and three assists. Chenoa Bernhardt chipped in 10 points and two steals, while Jalyn Hann had nine points and four boards. Morgan Kline turned in a strong all around performance, recording six points, and a team-high 15 rebounds and five steals. Lyla Spencer added six points, four assists, and four boards, while Kayley Mattis and Kathyrnn Weller each had six points.

Angela Sanders led Abington with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Cassie Tavormina followed with 14 points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Berks will travel to Lancaster Bible College for an United East contest on Saturday, January 7 at 1 p.m.
