Men's basketball comes up short against Abington

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team battled all game, but they found themselves on the wrong end of a 77-66 decision against Penn State Abington in United East competition on Friday evening.

Abington led 36-26 at halftime and led by as many as 20 points with 9:04 left in regulation. Berks worked the deficit down to single digits and trailed by as little as seven points (73-66), but with just 42 seconds left the rally was too late.

Josh Gardner had the hot hand for Berks, finishing with 16 points, followed by Darik Tannis-Harriet with 15 points and five assists. Jaedon Mast chipped in 14 points, followed by Andre Ballard with 11. Ballard had a team-high three steals, while Tannis-Harriet, Jeff Lorah, and Gardner all had a pair of steals.

Alex Salata led Abington with 22 points, while Brian Randolph chipped in 15.

Berks will travel to Lancaster Bible College for an United East contest on Saturday, January 7 at 3 p.m.
