MBB drops heartbreaker to Abington

ABINGTON, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team suffered a 64-59 setback on the road to Penn State Abington in an United East contest on Tuesday night.

Abington led 28-27 heading into the halftime intermission and the two teams exchanged leads throughout the second half. Andre Ballard's jumper with with 5:57 remaining gave Berks a 52-48 lead with 5:57 remaining, but Abington outscored Berks by a 16-7 margin down the stretch to earn the win.

Darik Tannis-Harriet led Berks with 14 points to go along with six rebounds, three steals, and two assists, followed by Ballard with 12 points and Jeff Lorah with 10. Isaiah Cotten finished with nine points, seven boards, three assists, and two steals. Matthew Gingerich hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with six points.

Alex Salata led Abington with 28 points and three steals. Lexuus Fasce had 12 points and Brian Randolph added 11, while the duo both pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will host SUNY Morrisville in an United East contest on Wednesday, February 8 at 7 p.m. The men's squad will join the women's basketball team in hosting its annual Pink Game fundraiser to benefit the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.
