WBB falls to Gallaudet in United East action

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team suffered a 74-65 setback at home to Gallaudet University in an United East contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Bison led 21-16 after the first period and took a 49-32 lead into the halftime intermission. The Nittany Lions outscored GU, 17-11, in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 60-49 heading into the final 10 minutes of action. In the fourth quarter, Berks chipped away at the deficit and pulled to within four points (66-62) with 3:54 remaining in the game. The Bison closed out the game on a 8-3 run to earn the win.

Hailey Miller had 20 points, five rebounds, five steals, and three assists, while Kayley Mattis added 17 points, six boards, and two steals. Jalyn Hann chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, and two steals, while Lyla Spencer finished with eight points and three assists. Morgan Kline had nine boards, eight steals, and four assists to go along with five points.

Cassidy Perry led the Bison with 13 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocked shots, followed by Hannah Puent off the bench with 12 points and 11 boards. Oliva Brown chipped in 12 points and Rajena Guettler added 10.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Harrisburg in an United East contest on Tuesday, January 24 at 5 p.m.
