Men's soccer topped by Alvernia

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Alvernia University in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Both goals by the Golden Wolves came off of rebounds. The first score came at the 19:20 mark after an Alvernia shot hit off the cross bar, Evan Bauer then directed it inside the left post. At the 88:41 mark, Ethan Brazier made a spectacular diving save, but Nick Denlinger was at the perfect location to put home the rebound.

Brazier turned in a stellar performance in goal, finishing with a career-high 12 saves. That total is tied for eighth in the single-game record books.

Ash Deery had the best scoring opportunity for Berks with a line drive toward the top left corner, but the Golden Wolves keeper was able to knock it over the crossbar. Caleb Fatkin directed two shots on goal, while Ryan Goffice and Thomas Andress each had one.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Lebanon Valley College on Thursday, September 8 at 4 p.m.
