Women's soccer edged by Arcadia, 1-0

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback to Arcadia University in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

The Nittany Lions had its two-match win streak snapped as they fall to 6-3 on the season, while the Knights improve to 4-4-2 overall.

The lone score of the game came at the 83:40 mark when a foul was called in the box to allow an Arcadia penalty kick. Taylor Gubler converted the PK and the Knights held on the rest of the way to earn the win.

Arcadia held a 17-9 advantage on shots, 12-6 on target, and had a 12-4 advantage on corner kicks.

Throughout the match, freshman keeper Sophia Gonzalez gave everything she had to keep Berks in the match. She finished the contest with a season-high 10 saves, while Abby Fuchs and Amelia Orr combined for six stops in the shutout effort.

Diana Pon had three shots on goal, while Sarah Hathaway had two and Jeyda Duran one.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Harrisburg in a rematch of last season's United East championship on Saturday, October 1 at 1 p.m.
