Baseball downs Hilbert, 13-8

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Penn State Berks baseball teams bats stayed hot and another strong pitching effort by a starter propelled the Nittany Lions to a 13-8 victory over Hilbert College at The Ripken Experience on Tuesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions recorded 11 or more runs for the third straight game as they improved to 2-2 on the season.

Colin Wilson set down the first nine batters he faced in order, before Hilbert scratched across two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. Wilson was lifted after 6.0 innings, allowed three hits and three runs, while striking out four to earn his first win of the season. Sam Perrone allowed one run and struck out two batters in 2.0 innings of solid relief.

Jase Graybill finished 3-for-5 with a double, four RBI, and two runs scored, Chad Evans and Josh Hernandez both finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Nate Trovinger had a hit, two runs scored, and an RBI, Nick Bergeman added a hit, run, and RBI. Joe Gramignano, Kolbie Reeser, and Colin Templin all scored a run and recorded an assist.

The Nittany Lions will face Bethany College on Wednesday, March 9 at 10 a.m.
