Baseball topped in high scoring affair by No. 24 Kean

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Penn State Berks baseball team was defeated in a shootout by No. 24 ranked Kean University, falling 19-12 at The Ripken Experience on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions led by scored of 3-1 and 4-3, but the Cougars went ahead for good with a six run third inning. Berks plated a couple of runs over the next few innings before a five-run rally in the eighth.

Nate Trovinger finished 4-for-5 with one RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base, while Chad Evans was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Colin Templin chipped in two hits and three runs scored, Logan Ewert was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Griffin Kay and Jase Graybill both finished with one hit and drove in two.

Colin Wilson pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, setting down all five batters that he faced.

The Nittany Lions will face the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg on Monday, March 7 at 11 a.m.
