Baseball swept by Lancaster Bible

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball team suffered a pair of setback to Lancaster Bible College in an United East Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers took game one by a scored of 12-2 and held off a late Berks rally for an 8-6 victory in the second game of the twinbill.

In the opener, LBC built a 5-0 lead over the first three innings and added four more in the top of the sixth. Berks scored a pair of runs in the bottom half, but the Chargers responded with three in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Colin Templin went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Nate Trovinger was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Kolbie Reeser and David Rudisill each had a hit and drove in a run.

Alex Laudenslager struck out six batters in 6.0 innings of work, while Colin Wilson and Ryan Spatz each struck out two in an inning of relief.

In the second game, the Chargers broke a scoreless tie with two in third inning and later took a 8-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Templin recorded two RBI with a double, Chad Evans added an RBI single, and Jase Graybill walked with the bases loaded to make it 8-6. With the bases still loaded, pitcher Brian Coburn was able to force a grounder to short to end the threat.

Templin finished 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored. Trovinger, Reeser, and Hernandez all recorded two hits, while Joe Gramignano scored twice.

Josh Miiller struck out six batters in 6.0 innings, Spatz tossed 3.0 innings of relief.
