Baseball drops series opener to LBC

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball team dropped an 11-3 decision to Lancaster Bible College in an United East Conference contest on Friday afternoon at Hintz Athletic Field.

The game started out scoreless over the first three innings before the Chargers took advantage of some Berks miscues to score four runs in the top of the fourth. The Nittany Lions got a run back in the bottom half of the inning, but LBC responded with two more in the fifth. The Chargers recorded one run in each of the final four innings, while Berks scratched across two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Chad Evans and Kolbie Reeser were both 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored, while Joe Gramignano was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Colin Templin finished 1-for-2 with a triple, Colin Amerine scored a run.

Ben Berkel had six strikeouts in 6.0 innings on the mound. Dom Mayorca, Jake Dianna, and Dale Murphy all three one inning of relief.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow (March 26) for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
