Nittany Lions battle against Express

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball battled to the very end, but came up on the wrong side of a 62-52 decision against Well College in an United East contest on Saturday afternoon.

Berks trailed 37-20 at halftime, but were to chip away at the deficit after outscoring the Express 17-13 in the third period. In the fourth quarter, the Nittany Lions pulled within 10 points on several occasions, but were not able to get any closer.

Abby Ackley, Sam Hagenbush, and Kayla Zelonka all recorded a career-high in points, while Ackley also had a carer-best in rebounds to record her first double-double. Ackley finished with 18 points and 10 boards, to go along with five assists, four steals, and a blocked shot in 40 minutes of action. Hagenbush matched a career-high with four 3-pointers made on her way to a personal best 17 points. She also had seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Zelonka, who made a season-high four 3-pointers, had 12 points, seven boards, and an assist. Mattie Motze, who was honor prior to the game for Senior Day, added two points, seven boards, two steals, and an assist. Katie Davis finished with two points and four assists, Marissa Pyatt had two boards and two steals.

Morgan Adams led the Express with 15 points and 17 rebounds, while Caroline Barr had 11 points and nine boards.

The Nittany Lions will host their home finale against SUNY Morrisville on Tuesday, February 15 at 7 p.m.
