WBB falls to Valley Forge in fall semester finale

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team suffered a 62-58 setback to the University of Valley Forge in non-conference action on Thursday evening.

A second half surge pushed the Patriots past Berks. The Nittany Lions led 20-10 after the first quarter and took a 31-19 advantage into the locker room at the halftime break. Out of the intermission, Valley Forge gained some ground in the third quarter to make it 52-47 in Berks favor. In the final period, the Patriots used a 15-1 run to build a nine point lead with 2:42 remaining. The Nittany Lions pulled to within four points, but that is as close as they would get.

Hailey Miller notched her second straight double-double after recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds. Lyla Spencer had 10 points, five assists, and three rebounds, while Jalyn Hann added 10 points and two blocked shots. Morgan Kline finished with eight points, 10 boards, and three steals, Lekaiah Solomon had seven points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals.

Jasmine Hamilton led the Patriots with 22 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, and three blocked shots. Dominique Barnes chipped in 13 points and Mariah Matthews had 12.

Berks is off for the remainder of the fall semester and will return to action when it hosts Penn State Abington on Friday, January 6 at 5 p.m.
