Men's basketball downs Valley Forge on the road

PHOENIXVILLE, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team led from start to finish in an 80-60 victory on the road over the University of Valley Forge in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

The Nittany Lions won its second straight contest to improve to 3-4 on the season, while the Patriots dropped to 1-6 on the season.

Berks jumped out to a 14-2 lead over the first 5:30 of play, but the Patriots were able to pull within one point (18-17) with 8:34 left in the half. The Nittany Lions closed out the half on a 26-14 run to take a 13 point lead into the break. Valley Forge got its deficit down to as little as five points (58-53) with 8:26 remaining in regulation. Darik Tannis-Harriet and Isaiah Cotten combined on 16 of the Nittany Lions final 22 points down the stretch to close out the win for Berks.

Cotten finished the game with 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor, while Tannis-Harriet recorded 19 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Andre Ballard added 15 points and nine boards, Jeff Lorah chipped in 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Cotten, Tannis-Harriet, and Ballard combined for 11 of the Nittany Lions 13 steals. Josh Mingledolph finished with six points, both Thomas Mandell and Luke Collins had three points.

Jay White led the Patriots with 21 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Charles Hoover with 13 points.

The Nittany Lions will host Keystone College on Friday, December 9 at 6 p.m.
