MBB comes up short at Cairn

LANGHORNE, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team made a second half push, but the rally came up short in an 80-66 setback to Cairn University in non-conference action on Monday evening.

The Nittany Lions struggled shooting in the first half and trailed 45-28 at the break. In the second half, they pulled to within five points (66-61) with 5:41 left in regulation. That is as close as Berks would get as the Highlanders finished 8-for-8 at the foul line in the final two minutes of play to earn the victory.

Jeff Lorah finished with 17 points and five rebounds, while Andre Ballard notched his first double-double with Berks after recording 15 points and 10 boards. Luke Collins again turned in a fine performance off the bench, chipping in 11 points and two assists, Isaiah Cotten followed with 10 points and four rebounds. Darik Tannis-Harriet added eight points and three assists. Ballard, Cotten, and Collins all finished with two steals.

Jesse River led the Highlanders with 21 points and 10 assists, while Dashuan Cain finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will host Wells College in both teams United East opener on Saturday, December 3 at 3 p.m.
