Men's basketball tops Bard at Elmira Tournament

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team defeated Bard College, 88-72, on day two of the Elmira Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The teams exchanged leads in the early going of the game until a 3-point by Luke Collins put Berks ahead 13-12 with 13:22 left in the opening period. From that point on, the Nittany Lions did not trail the rest of the way. They took an 11-point lead (49-38) into the halftime intermission. Out of the break, the Raptors were able to fight their way back and cut their deficit to two points (53-51) with 13:55 remaining in regulation. The Nittany Lions outscored Bard 35-21 to close out the game and pick up their first win of the season.

Berks had four starters scoring in double figures, led by Darik Tannis-Harriet with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor. Jeff Lorah made three 3-pointers to finish with 17 points to go with six rebounds, while Isaiah Cotten added 14 points and a team-high eight boards. Andre Ballard finished with 13 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Josh Mingledolph finished with eight points, while Collins and Josh Gardner both chipped in five.

Elliot Harris led the Raptors with 14 points and five rebounds, while Azriel Almodovar finished with nine points and three assists.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Bryn Athyn College for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, November 16 at 7 p.m.
