Women's soccer wins wild one with Penn College

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team scored three unanswered goal en route to a 5-3 victory over Penn College in an United East contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improve to 8-3-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the United East, while the Wildcats fall to 5-8-1 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Jeyda Duran opened up the scoring with a goal at the 12:09 mark of the first half, Sara Hathaway added the assist.

The lead remained that way until the 49th minute when Cassie Johnson found the back of the net for PCT. Hathaway assisted on Adriana Lepera's goal at 52:12 to give Berks a 2-1 lead. That lead was short lived as the Wildcats scored 38 seconds later to tie the match at 2-all and then took the lead in the 55th minute, both goals coming from Sara Darlington.

Hathaway scored off a cross by Emily Clapper in the 66th minute to even the score at 3-3. Lepera then deflected a cross by Diana Pon past the Wildcat keeper the put Berks ahead 4-3 in the 69th minute. Duran converted a penalty kick in the 75th minute to put the game out of reach.

Sophia Gonzalez made two saves in net to earn the win, while Nicole Lichtinger finished with 12 stops for the Wildcats.

The Nittany Lions will host York College in a non-conference contest on Sunday, October 9 at 12 p.m.
