Volleyball downs New Jersey City, 3-0

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over New Jersey City University in non-conference action on Thursday night.

The Nittany Lions improved to 8-6 on the season, while the Gothic Knights are now 10-8 overall. Berks won by game scores of 25-21, 25-15, 25-17.

Adriana Leon-Vazquez and Jordan Thompson tied for the team lead with eight kills, followed by Aubrey Hunt, Makenzie Shoop, and Sarah Nichols with six each. Riley Kovach had 15 digs, while Julia Rathsam recorded 29 assists and 11 digs. Cassie Shoupe finished with a game-high four service aces.

The women's volleyball team is joining the men's and women's soccer teams in hosting their Pink Game fundraiser this week. The women's volleyball team collected donations at the door and held a serving competition which earned over $100. All proceeds collected tonight at Saturday at soccer will benefit the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.

The Nittany Lions will open up United East play with a pair of games in upstate New York on Saturday, October 8. They face host SUNY Morrisville at 12 p.m., followed by Penn State Harrisburg at 2 p.m.
